East Coast Power Systems has become one of the leading providers of power equipment and services for new construction, retrofit and general utility installations. A family owned and operated business; it was founded as East Coast Panelboard by Salvatore Rinaldi Sr. in 1983. He was joined in this venture by his son Salvatore Rinaldi Jr.. Originally East Coast was located in Garfield, New Jersey. It occupied 3000 Sq. ft and had a staff of four. Today at its current location in Keyport, New Jersey, where it has been located since 1984, it occupies 22,000 sq. ft and fully staffs three divisions as well as provides twenty four hour service.
The father and son combination has proven to be a successful one. With Sal Sr.’s experience and Sal Jr.’s initiative East Coast has grown in both size and business every year. The heart of the business, the accounting and paper work, has been stabilized by the women of the family Mary and Maria Rinaldi Rahner.
In 1988 the Rinaldi’s were joined by George Conti who had previously worked with Sal Sr. for 16 yrs. George is still with the company, most recently celebrating his 15’th anniversary. During the next decade East Coast expanded its capabilities and its productivity. They were now manufacturing Cell Towers, Utility Equipment, Custom Wireways, Copper & Aluminum Bus Bars as well as Custom Solutions and Metal Fabrication.
East Coast Panelboard then decided to expand into the areas of Control & Automation and Service. In December of 1998 the East Coast Control & Automation division was founded. This division accommodated our customers who had interest in Industrial Control Products. In January of 1999 the East Coast Power Service division was founded. East Coast now provided East Coast customers with warranty service, preventive maintenance as well as emergency service. It would also mobilize East Coast for onsite instruction as well as emergency deliveries.
The expansion of East Coast brought about the beginning of “East Coast Power Systems “. This new corporate structure was created to better serve the customers and to ensure the quality and service they had come to expect. The newly formed ECPS with its three divisions then did some expanding of its own. In October of 2001 East Coast Power Systems announced the expansion to the New England area. Salvatore Rinaldi Jr. was quoted as saying “Now we plan to take the overall core capabilities of the company to a neighboring territory that we know we can serve well”. The following January of 2002 East Coast expanded its representation to the Mid-Atlantic area. East Coast would now be providing the Pennsylvania/Delaware area with the personal attention that East Coast has become known for.
Marketing and Research have now become the focal point of Salvatore Rinaldi’s vision. A vision which this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
