In Memory of Sal Rinaldi, Sr.

It has been said that the true measure of a life well lived is one filled with the success of family, community and business. Salvatore Rinaldi Sr. was fortunate to enjoy success in all three aspects of life. Sal Sr. was a man of caring and compassion for his family and friends, a man with a strong sense of moral obligation to give back to his community, and a man who saw business opportunity and capitalized on his ability to invest himself in the correct areas.

Salvatore's impressive career started in 1942 with New York Switchboards. Over the next four decades, Sal became a prominent expert in his industry, serving over twenty years with Lexington Standard Switchboard (1946 - 1968) and nearly 15 years with United Control (1968 - 1982).

In 1983, Salvatore Rinaldi, Sr. founded East Coast Panelboard, which today operates under the corporate umbrella of East Coast Power Systems. As a business owner, Salvatore was an entrepreneurial spirit, investing his time, energy and resources to grow his business into one of the most successful, customer-oriented power equipment and service companies in the industry. Along with his son, Sal Rinaldi, Jr., Sal Sr. helped to grow the company's size, business, capabilities and productivity each and every year. Salvatore brought his kindness and humanity to the conference table, treating all business associates as family and friends. In the cutthroat world of contracts, deadlines and profit margins, Salvatore skillfully operated with a unique blend of business savvy and benevolence, which left a lasting impression on all that had the privilege to work with him.

As a man with the highest integrity, Salvatore Rinaldi Sr. also believed in giving himself back to his community. Sal had the distinctive and honorable opportunity to hold the office Mayor of Keansburg from 1983 to 1984. Sal also served as member of the Regular Democratic Club of Keansburg, the Democratic Executive Committee (2nd District) and the Keansburg Zoning Board of Adjustment. Sal knew the importance of community and dedicated himself toward giving back to a group of people that truly benefited from his experience and work ethic.

On Saturday, November 22, 2008, the Rinaldi family, East Coast Power Systems and the community at large lost a family member and a friend. Sal's hope for all that knew him was that they be touched by his life and find success through family, community and business, just as Salvatore Rinaldi Sr. had. Everyone in his path was treated as family, and he will be missed.

Your Niece 12/02/2008

I remember Saturday mornings having breakfast at a table for two, and realized as an adult, that’s something we didn’t do. I remember sleeping at your house and swimming in your pool, How you acted so silly and didn’t mind playing the fool. I remember playing the piano even though I couldn’t really play, How it must have drove you crazy but that was something you didn’t say. I remember going to your stand on the boardwalk and having so much fun, How you always gave me a prize, even though I never won. I remember the way you use to say my name and would goof around with me, How you always knew the foods I liked and offered them to me. I remember we weren’t very close when I became all grown, I realize there were many things about you, that I may not have known. I remember I still have time to learn from my own past, To let the people in whom matter, cause life moves very fast. I will always remember all the good times and never focus on any bad, The bad matters not and the good times now make me sad. I will remember to always smile at the mention of your name, And always know because your gone, our family will never be the same. We will all carry a piece of you in everywhere we go, And you will be greatly missed, that’s one thing I hope you know. I pray you’re looking down on us and are happy with what you see, All your family in one room, the way a family should be. I love you Uncle Tutts
